Together, they secured Aid for Dependent Families (AFDC) and disability insurance for farm workers in California. In the Spring of 1962, Cesar and Dolores launched the National Farm Workers Association. During this time, she met Cesar Chavez and the two discovered their shared vision of organizing farm workers, which was not in line with the CSO’s mission. During this time she founded the Agricultural Workers Association, set up voter registration drive and pressed local government for barrio improvements. This event is free for students and the general public.ĭolores found her calling as an organizer while serving in the leadership of the Stockton Community Service Organization (CSO).
